File # 2017-10438

On November 14 at 8:30 a.m., a resident of Butler Avenue in Parksville left her residence to run errands. When she returned home at 1 p.m., she noticed the side door in the carport was ajar and had been forced open. Once inside she discovered that there were items strewn about the home. It appeared that the suspect, who had fled, had entered the master bedroom, rifled through drawers, and then entered another bedroom where a filing cabinet had been entered.

Stolen items include rings, a gold chain and a Canadian coin collection.

Property owners are reminded to catalogue and film items of value in your home. This can be an invaluable tool for police should there be an investigation and will assist the insurance company with expediting a claim.
