File # 2017-10424

On November 14 at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Oceanside RCMP received multiple 911 calls reporting an alleged stabbing in Bowser. The investigation revealed that while driving in a vehicle, 2 friends, a 22 year old man and 31 year old female from Bowser, had gotten into an argument. The man then reportedly produced a knife and stabbed the female driver. The female was able to escape the vehicle but was subsequently chased and stabbed several more times while trying to run to safety.

At 6:40 a.m., the suspect was arrested at his residence in Bowser without incident. He is being held in custody and will make his first appearance this afternoon (November 15) in Nanaimo Provincial Court.

The female victim received immediate care by BC Ambulance and Fire personnel. She was taken to Nanaimo General Hospital where she is recovering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.
