File # 2017-10197
On November 6, at approximately 3 p.m., the Oceanside RCMP were called to an assault in progress at a residence on Beaver Creek Road in Nanoose Bay. Upon attendance, it was discovered that a 64 year old man that had checked on his RV in the yard, located a female whom he did not know squatting inside. The 31 year old female, Jennifer Megan Hannan, of no fixed address, allegedly grabbed a hammer and struck the man in the eye in an attempt to escape. The man was able to wrestle Hannan out of the RV and onto the ground. He was assisted by a neighbour who heard the commotion.
Upon police arrival, Hannan, who is well known to police, was taken into custody. She is now facing several charges including Break and Enter, Assault with a Weapon and Failure to Comply with a Recognizance. Hannan has been remanded in custody and will make her next court appearance on November 28.
The victim of the assault received significant, but non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
Over the past week several Nanoose Bay residents called the Oceanside RCMP to report that their vehicles had been entered and personal items and change were missing. Of interest, some of these items were located in the possession of Hannan and as a result, further charges are expected.
