Auto Theft Solved

On July 30 at 3:35 p.m., Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a vehicle being stolen from the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal. The vehicle, a White 1996 GMC Safari van was later seen in Parksville and reported by a local resident. The GMC van was parked on Morison Avenue and was reported to police as suspicious, as a man was seen slumped over the steering wheel.

Upon police attendance, a 27 year old man of no fixed address, who is well known to police, was found in the vehicle and subsequently arrested. The man is facing proposed charges including Theft of Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The man was also wanted on prior charges when arrested.

The man will appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court later today.
