File # 2017-3380

The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department and Oceanside RCMP are investigating 2 fires occurring within a day of one another.

On April 27, shortly before 5 p.m., a fire was reported at the Sandcastle Bakery in French Creek. The fire was quickly extinguished by the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department leaving only moderate damage to the rear of the business. The business was not open at the time and nobody was injured as a result of the fire.

On April 28, shortly before 1 p.m., a fire was reported at the French Creek Bakery in French Creek. The business was open at the time and thankfully everyone was able to make it out without injury. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the Fire Department the fire completely destroyed the business in a matter of minutes.

The Oceanside RCMP and Parksville Volunteer Fire Department continue to investigate both blazes in an effort to determine causal factors.
