File # 2017-2392

On March 22, an Oceanside RCMP officer attempted to pull over a suspicious white van in Parksville but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. It was later confirmed that the van had been stolen from a business in Errington on March 17, while the owners were out of town.

Officers located the van in Parksville on March 23, but again the driver fled, making a traffic stop too dangerous to attempt. On March 24, police found the van abandoned in Errington. Forensic evidence gathered from the van led officers to a suspect, 50 year old Qualicum man, Aaron William March. March, who is well known to local police, was located in Whiskey Creek, later that evening. He was arrested without incident and held in custody.

March attended court on March 27 and pled guilty to Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a controlled substance. March is now serving a 70 day custodial sentence.
