File # 2020-12056

On November 19 at approximately 11:15 p.m., the Oceanside RCMP received a call indicating a robbery had just occurred at a resort in Parksville. An employee was leaving work and noticed a man cutting bike locks in front of the business. The employee knew the bikes were property of the resort and therefore, confronted the man who was in the process of stealing 2 bicycles.

When the suspect, later identified as 27 year old Taylor Lee Carrigan was confronted, he proceeded to punch the employee in the face, drop one bicycle and then flee on the other stolen bike.

The employee provided a very good description of the man to police who began patrolling the area.

At 11:30 p.m., two officers located and arrested Carrigan without incident. When found, Carrigan was already in the process of disassembling the stolen bike.

Carrigan has been released by the courts and will make his next appearance on December 8 to face a charge of robbery.
