The Oceanside RCMP have arrested two suspects who are thought to be responsible for a string of thefts and break and entries.
The Oceanside RCMP had received tips from the general public of a male and female in a gold coloured minivan lurking around properties in Nanoose Bay. The male and female were believed responsible for the theft of among other things, a child’s motorcycle in that area. These tips from the public and results of a forensic examination of a residential break and enter crime scene steered Oceanside RCMP towards a suspect, a 47 year old man residing in Parksville.
On June 18, the van, the suspect and a 42 year old female accomplice were located by RCMP in a trailer park in Parksville. The man was arrested for break and entry and the female accomplice was also arrested as she was in breach of court ordered conditions. During the arrest, several stolen items were found that linked the pair to a number of thefts and break and entries that had occurred previously in Oceanside and Nanaimo.
Oceanside RCMP obtained judicial authorization to search the residence (trailer) as well as a storage unit in Nanaimo. A staggering amount of stolen goods were seized ranging from two stolen vehicles, two motorcycles, a firearm, several bicycles, power tools and hand tools. Oceanside RCMP officers worked tirelessly to find the rightful owners and return most of the more than $30,000 in stolen property.
This was excellent police work and I’m proud of the investigation put forth by the officers involved. – Stated Staff Sergeant Pelletier.
It is fantastic to get a prolific offender off the streets and to not only solve several break and entries but to get people their property back.
The female who was involved has been released on several conditions and will attend court at a later date. The man was remanded in custody and is facing a myriad of charges.
