Prolific offender strikes again

File # 2020-593
On January 21 at 2:30 a.m., the Oceanside RCMP responded to an intrusion alarm from an industrial business on Springhill Road, in Parksville. The business had a good surveillance system that was remotely monitored. Therefore, the complainant was able to notify the responding officers that there was in fact someone inside the business.
Officers responding spotted a familiar person, 27 year old prolific offender, Hudson David Klassen riding away from the scene on a bicycle. Klassen was arrested without incident and several items that had been stolen from the business were recovered, processed and returned to the business.
Klassen was held for court on proposed charges of break and entry and theft. Klassen made his first appearance later in the day and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on January 28.
This is another great example of a business owner being proactive by having a good surveillance system and a person to monitor it and assist police dispatch. – States Cpl. Foreman
