Warning drivers with smart art

Oceanside

2019-12-02 10:46 PST

The Oceanside RCMP, ICBC and School District 69 have teamed up to spread a colourful message to drivers, urging them to slow down in school zones. Students are given blank cards that say: Think of Me, Please Slow Down! The students then test their artistic and positive messaging skills on a personal note intended to be given to motorists who speed.

Staff Sergeant Marc Pelletier has given over 100 of the Think of Me tickets to drivers in school zones. These hand created original notes are given in place of official police warnings when warranted. I believe this has had a very positive impact on motorists as they are receiving a personal note from the students located in the very school zone in which they are speeding. – States S/Sgt.
