File # 2019-12455

On November 14, at 2:45 p.m., the Oceanside RCMP were called to a disturbance on Bay Street in Parksville. Upon attendance, police found a 50 year old unresponsive male suffering from serious injuries.

Frontline Officers performed CPR on the male, who was then transported by air ambulance to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. The male later succumbed to his injuries.

Through investigation it was determined that the injuries received by this male were self-inflicted. -says Corporal Jesse Foreman, Operational Support NCO for the Oceanside RCMP. It is not common for the RCMP to discuss specific circumstances in these events, however this disturbance happened in a busy area with many witnesses who may not be aware of the totality of the situation.

Investigators believe that this was an isolated incident and there are no suspects or other persons of interest.

Out of respect for the family, the RCMP will not have further comment.
